Today I’m sharing with you a layout that I created for my daughter and me. I love this girl so much!! And over the summer she grew and is now taller than me!! (which really isn’t that difficult seeing as I’m not the tallest person ever!) It definitely has put a grin on her face!
Here’s the layout that I created.
I used a fun heart-shaped cut-out patterned background and cut it out of white Silhouette Adhesive Backed Cardstock. I adhered that to a dark grey card stock. Love how it pops.
I knew I wanted to fill in the hearts with some patterned papers so here’s what I did.
In my Silhouette program, I then ungrouped that entire background image. I removed the outside frame and all of the circles. (yes, that part took a bit of time). Then I selected all of the hearts & clicked on the Nesting window along the top right side menu and clicked the button “Nest”. This feature groups everything together in a compact manner on the mat which saves so much space if you’re wanting to cut a lot of different shapes. Once they were all grouped I then dragged a bunch of the hearts to the far right corner of the mat and another bunch to the bottom right. I was then able to place three 6″ x 6″ pieces of patterned paper on my cutting mat and cut out the designs.
I used foam dots to adhere the hearts to the cut out spaces on the white card stock. I didn’t use all of them because I liked how the grey was showing through. I also used the Silhouette Rhinestone Setter to adhere some clear rhinestones in various circles.
I cut out the journal card from some Silhouette Kraft Paper and then I printed my journaling on it.
I used some Silhouette Corrugated Paper for the title and cut out an offset image of the title from some turquoise coloured card stock to give the title a little pop of colour.
I hope I’ve inspired you to use some different products by Silhouette America and try some overlay backgrounds.
