Lizard Pocket Tee

The first time I tried Silhouette’s heat transfer material I was instantly hooked. Personalized t-shirts (and so much more) in minutes…yes please! It’s fun being able to add an interesting touch to a boring old shirt. This adorable lizard tee is easy to make and far from boring!

The lizard design was cut from neon green heat transfer material. When working with heat transfer material don’t forget to flip your design before it is cut, especially if you’re cutting text. When I cut small designs out of heat transfer material I like to draw two rectangular boxes around my design. It creates a sort of guide box that makes it easier to weed the design. Using the hook tool I removed the guide box first. Then I used scissors to separate the design from the roll of heat transfer material before weeding out the rest of the design.

To fit the lizard in the pocket I had to cut it in half.

Then I arranged it until I liked the way the lizard looked peeking out of the pocket. The plastic part of the heat transfer material is slightly sticky so you should have no problem rearranging it until you’re pleased. I ironed the little guy on and then cut his eyes out of black heat transfer material and ironed those on. Seriously, this project takes mere minutes!

Isn’t the lizard a fun touch? My three year old couldn’t get enough of his new lizard buddy!

Hi there, I’m Analisa! I love to travel and explore new places along with my husband and son. When we’re not on the go I’m happily crafting. I’ve been a crafter for as long as I can remember. When I was younger I collected every craft kit I could get my hands on. Not much has changed. I love my Silhouette because it such a versatile instrument for creating. I can stencil fabric with one project, then create stickers for my son with the next. I love experimenting with all it can do.

  1. So adorable, Analisa! Now I need to find some shirts with pockets to add a bunch of critters. 🙂

    1. It was surprisingly difficult to find a pocketed shirt that wasn’t a polo. I’m on the hunt for more too!

  2. Such a cute and clever idea!

    1. Thanks so much Louise! My son isn’t crazy about wearing clothes so I try to make it fun when I can 🙂

    1. Oh how I love my heat transfer material! Make sure you try the incredible glitter colors Silhouette makes too. They’re absolutely gorgeous in person!

  3. I just have to ask…I have never used HTC because I have heard it comes off after it is washed. True or False? I am so nervous to try it and be disappointed when it doesn’t last.
