Doughnut Straws

DIY Doughnut Straws | for Silhouette

One of ALL of our favorite holidays is just around the corner. I’m talking about National Doughnut Day (Friday, June 5th). What better way to celebrate this sweet treat, than by having a doughnut (of course) and a glass of milk paired with these oh so fabulous, doughnut straws.

Doughnut you want to know how to make them (insert laughter), scroll on down for the delicious details.

Supplies you will need to recreate these doughnut straws:

  • Design #77592
  • Paper Straws
  • Card Stock
  • Printer

Start by opening up the doughnut design in Silhouette Studio and size the doughnuts down to about 2 inches wide. Select the fill color icon (top right and furthest to the left) and give your tasty treats some nice doughnut-y colors. For the base of the doughnut I used color #F6E7D9 , for the frosting I used color #F7ACB1 , and for the sprinkles I used color #’s C7E6D7 and FEEA54.

  • You can also see that I added an additional circle to the middle of the doughnut for the straw to poke through.

  • Before printing you will need to add registration marks and you can add those by selecting the ‘open the registration marks window’ icon, which is located at the top right of your screen. Be sure to double check that all doughnuts are located within the registration marks, or your Silhouette won’t cut them.

  • Now it’s as easy as sticking a straw through a doughnut.

I know my doughnut festivities are going to include these doughnut straws and maybe yours will too. Who wouldn’t like chomping on a delicious doughnut while sipping a yummy beverage through a doughnut straw on National Doughnut Day? Or, really, any day?:)

Brie Zacher

Hello, I'm Brie (like the cheese) and you can find me blogging over at, a place where I can catalog my favorite projects and post anything I'm passionate about. My brain usually has way too many project tabs open at once, but I absolutely love doing anything that deals with DIY crafts, parties, yummy food, paper making, decor, design, and really good photography. I currently reside in Ogden, Utah and have been married for 5 years now to a good look'n hunk, whom I gave my number to at a bakery I used to work at (written on a PB&J sandwich). I also love Dr. Pepper and chocolate (insert flavor here) cupcakes.

  1. Too cute! Thanks for the heads up about the holiday, too. Didn’t know that one. 😉

  2. Hi, I’m from Brazil and I work with EVA material, Do you know if the Silhouette Machine can cut it? Or another one that can cut it.

    Hope to receive your answer!

    Thank you! =)

  3. Hi,
I have a new Silhouette Portrait and I wonder how you did it, that it just cut the circle and not at every red line so every donut would be seperated from its circle?
    Hope you could understand me.

    Best regards. 🙂
