Halloween is in just a few short days and if you’re planning a spine-chilling Halloween soiree, how about making this ghostly haunted house cake topper, topped with spooky suspended bats. It’s an eerie Halloween silhouette that can be crafted easily with your Silhouette! A perfect centerpiece for that spookalicious treat table.
Here’s what you will need to recreate this Halloween cake topper.
- Silhouette Design #96219
- Silhouette Design #95060
- Black Card Stock
- Floral Wire
- Hot Glue Gun
- Bamboo Skewers
Begin by opening the haunted house design in Silhouette Studio.
Next delete the fence to the left of the design and the porch/pumpkins to the right of the design. You also don’t need the yellow pieces and extra little black elements (you can see what you should end up with below).
Overlap the two pieces, making sure to line them up perfectly (see below). Next release the compound path of JUST the door/cobweb piece, by right clicking and selecting ‘Release Compound Path’.
Releasing the compound path will remove the outline of that particular piece (see below).
Viola. A perfect haunted house silhouette to be cut by your Silhouette!
I also cut the bats from Silhouette design #95060 and attached them to floral wire to be inserted into the cake.
After the haunted house silhouette is cut, using a hot glue gun, attach the house to two, bamboo skewers. Insert the the house and bats, attached to floral wire, into your desired cake. I made and used a 6 inch cake with my haunted house sized to about 4.5 inches wide.
