Have you tried our vellum with your Silhouette? Today I’ve got a quick project idea and a couple of tips for working with vellum that I’d like to share. I used the CAMEO and cut this week’s free shape out of vellum and attached it to the front of a sketched lunch bag. Easy peasy DIY gift wrap!
I kind of love how the feathers turned out! What I love about them is that the shape is a delicate one, and so it the vellum. With that combination, it could be a tricky one when it comes to removing the shapes from the mat. But, I found that the combination of using a light hold mat and removing it with the spatula tool made a world of difference. Then there is the issue of adhesive. Because you can see through the vellum the adhesive tends to show through. Sometimes I’m ok to embrace that, but when I’m not, here are a couple of tricks I like to use… stitching it to the project with a sewing machine like I did here with the feathers to the gift bag, or like I did with the center piece of the feather, run the shape through the xyron to make the entire piece a sticker. A couple of other fun ways I like to attach vellum to a project are, using a stapler or paper clip. You just have to get a little creative, which is half the fun!
The vellum is subtle and pretty on the gift bag, and a print/cut tag was the perfect little pop of color to complete the project.
