Anchor Heart Pillow
First Cut

Anchor Heart Pillow

A few nights ago I was over at my parents house.  They still have their Christmas trees up.  Me? I am already starting to plan  for Valentine’s Day.  I wanted to make something that was a little more subtle though so that it could do double duty and carry me through a few seasons if needs be.

I used the sewable fabric interfacing to cut out the Echo Park Love Anchor.  I find it easier when I am working with the interfacing (both sewable and clean cut) to cut the interfacing first and iron it on to the fabric before cutting the fabric.  Then you only have to cut the fabric one time, just when you cut it to the size of the interfacing.

Sewing on Fabric Interfacing

I cut out my anchor and ironed it onto the fabric that would become my pillowcase.  It seems like every time I make a pillow with the sewable interfacing, I get to the part where I am about to sew it and I wonder if I need to.  It always looks so good just ironed on.  Of course I end up sewing it and am glad when I do.  The stitching adds that extra touch and texture to the pillow. I like to place my pressure foot pretty close to the edge.  As a side note, I actually sewed this very anchor onto a different pillow first time around.  I didn’t like the color combination though so I unpicked it and took it off.  I was happy to see that I could use it again and it was in really good shape still!
