Gold Foil Scrapbook Layout

Now, I have to tell you a little bit about the funny story behind this page.  Our city had it’s local celebration last week, which included a carnival.  My daughter was sooooo excited because she won a fish! Yay…..
I knew the fish would only last a couple days, but the fish had other plans.  While we were at the rodeo later that night, Shiny jumped out of her little fish bowl and we came home to find her behind Malia’s dresser. Oops!  {I may or may not have filled the jar too full}.  It was a little bit tragic for my daughter, but good life lessons were learned and I knew, of course, that I needed to scrapbook about it right away.  I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…It’s the little things that matter most.  They make up who we are.

Speaking of little things…here are some of the details of the page.  I like to make things on my layout tie in with the subject matter.  I used lots of banners to reienforce the carnival theme.  {The tickets enforced that theme as well} I used gold foil and spritzed my chipboard stars with gold to capture the essence of “Shiny”.
I used vellum print and cuts {I LOVE PRINTING ON VELLUM!!} to kind of represent water or the fishbowl.  {You can find a DIY print and cut tutorial here}  I love making my pages have more meaning!

  1. Love your layout and love your card sketch idea even more, so simple and so strong! I already learned to make cards from the scraps leftover from a layout. Now I can even use that layout to design the card.

  2. I’m not a scrapbooker, but I do like this sketch. Looks easy enough for this novice. I also like how you zoomed in on the bottom portion for the card sketch. I thought the top portion with the flag would be a great on a card when I first saw the sketch. I could make 3 different card designs with this one sketch. Gotta love that.
