April showers bring May flowers, and the same could be said with wedding season. As the flowers are blooming and the temperatures are warming, there is always an abundance of wedding, shower, and special occasion gifts to be given. This quick and easy Kitchen Cutting Board Sign will come in handy when you have limited shopping time and want to give a personal gift with a handmade touch.

Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

  • Wooden Cutting Board
  • Black Matte Vinyl
  • Transfer Paper
  • Card stock (if you’re gifting and need a tag)
  • Ruler/Measuring Tape

Simply choose the wording you’d like for your cutting board sign and pull it up in your design window. I went with a pre-made graphic found in the Silhouette store but the options are limitless if you’d like to personalize with the recipients’ name. However, if you’d like to just have some cutting boards stashed for gifts, you obviously want it to be generic enough for everyone- and everyone has a kitchen!

A couple of notes to keep in mind once you cut your vinyl and get ready to transfer it onto your board with your transfer paper. If you’re using a bamboo type board like I did, you’ll want to use a ruler to help keep you straight. I thought I could wing it and just plop the design into the center,  but you’ll be tempted to follow the lines in the wood- which are far from straight. Take my advice and just measure your center and then mark off with chalk/painters tape where you want those brackets on the edges to begin.
