The holidays are among us, friends! Brittany here, trying out another new Silhouette Curio product: the Deep-cut blade. The deep-cut blade can cut certain materials up to 2mm in thickness. Some materials may cut better than others, so play around! I’m by no means an expert, as this is my first run with the little guy, but I can say I was mighty impressed when it cleanly cut out this pennant shape from craft felt without needing to use any fabric interfacing at all.
The biggest difference between the standard rachet blade and the deep cut blade, aside from cutting ability, is how you set the rotating dial on the deep cut blade. You will notice on the blade, that there are two sets of numbers, one set in red and another in blue. To adjust the blade, carefully turn the numbered tip until the desired setting is aligned with the red mark. If the blue rim is exposed, reference the bottom row of numbers. If the blue rim is hidden and the red is only showing, reference the top row of numbers.
Once my pennant piece was cut out, I used my Silhouette CAMEO to cut this adorable “Meet me under the mistletoe” design from Felicity Jane out of Silhouette’s gold glitter heat transfer material, ironed it onto my pennant, and voila! If this doesn’t make you want to go smooch someone this holiday season, I don’t know what will! I know who I’ve got my eyes set on.
Happy Holidays & happy crafting!
