  • Come Fly with Me Design
  • CAMEO or Portrait
  • Stencil or Adhesive Vinyl
  • Transfer Paper
  • Acrylic paints (light blue, dark blue, white, red)
  • brush
  • Canvas

To create this look you’ll prepare your canvas by painting the entire canvas with a light blue acrylic paint. Let it dry completely while you cut your design using stencil or adhesive vinyl.DIY Canvas Art

When you have your design cut, you’ll weed out the excess vinyl before applying transfer paper to the stencil.DIY Canvas Art1

After the design is ready to go, you’ll use transfer paper to transfer the vinyl design to the canvas. Adhesive Vinyl may not adhere well to the canvas, so you may want to try the stencil vinyl. For the purpose of the tutorial, I used black adhesive vinyl for easy visibility.DIY Canvas Art3

Make sure that the¬†vinyl is pressed down completely to the canvas to avoid excess paint bleeding. Now you’ll use a small firm brush to apply paint to the select areas of design. Be sure to use a small amount of paint on the brush to avoid bleeding through the vinyl.DIY Canvas Art4

Continue applying paint colors to select areas.DIY Canvas Art5

After the paint is dry, you can remove the vinyl.DIY Canvas Art6

Use a small clean brush to touch up any areas with paint that may have bled through to finish off the canvas.DIY Canvas Art1 | by Blooming Homestead for Silhouette America

Marie Chorak

Hello! I am Marie from Blooming Homestead and I have a passion for all things crafty, this includes home decorating, organization, digital design, DIY, and cooking yummy comfort food! As a recent first time home buyer, I enjoy making our house into a home while sticking to a budget (gotta love those student loans!) This usually requires me to think outside the box and get creative. I love sharing my tutorials and projects in hopes that I can inspire others. When I am not crafting, I like to read, shop, watch movies, and visit with family & friends. Most importantly, I love spending time with my husband of 12 years and our two children who keep us on our toes.
