Embossing Tips and Tricks

I’ll be the first to admit that learning to emboss with Curio can be a little intimidating. Just like everything else, it’s a process of trial and error. Lucky for you, I’ve done the dirty work to bring you my tips and tricks for a successful emboss every time.   The Basics:   When you connect Curio to your computer the design page should automatically change to Curio’s 8.5 in x 6 in size. You can then change to the embossing mat by selecting Cutting Mat>Curio(emboss).     Once you have your design set up how you…

Well now you can with ease by either embossing or debossing!   Here’s what you’ll need to make this romantic heart art: Silhouette Curio 6 in. x 8.5 in Curio Base Kit Fine Embossing Tool 5 in x 7 in Score and Emboss Paper Ratchet Blade Red Vellum Brown Kraft Paper Glue Foam…

Embossed Stag Banner

There are so many fun features using the new Curio machine. Embossing adds such fun dimension and texture to projects like this Embossed Stag Banner.     This banner is the perfect way to usher in winter and can stay up long after the holidays. To create this banner I selected my shape from the design store and used the score and emboss selection in my Curio.           After the Curio worked its magic, I simply applied the stag to this fun wood grain paper.     A fun idea is to use mini clothespins to attach…

Print & Emboss Thank You Card

Have you tried the new Curio’s “print and emboss” feature yet? I made this card with my Curio, and I’m so “impressed” with how it turned out! 😉 All of these colorful words are embossed around the edges so the letters are gently raised above the rest of the card surface. If you have a Curio, you have access to the Emboss features of Silhouette Studio. The one I used in this project is the Print & Emboss. It tells you step-by-step how to go through the process. It does have several steps where you are switching between mats…

Score & Emboss or Score & Deboss with your Curio

With the Silhouette Curio™ cutting is just the beginning! One game-changing feature for Silhouette creators is Curio’s ability to emboss.  In tandem with our release of the Curio Silhouette has released special Score & Emboss paper to help you create the perfect conditions for your Curio to both (you guessed it) score and emboss you design using the machine’s convenient dual carriage.   The Score & Emboss feature allows you to get an even more pronounced emboss or deboss because the embossing tool is moving right along a light cut line that your Curio has already created.  The results are…

Debossed Watercolor Succulent Art | Erica Sooter for Silhouette America

Debossed Watercolor Succulent Art

I have to say, I think one of my favorite features about the Silhouette Curio is the emboss/deboss feature! I just love how you can make pretty designs for cards, pieces of art and more that you can then customize however you want! One of the most fun ways (in my opinion!) to use the deboss feature is to make templates for watercoloring! I don’t know about you, but I’m not the best at freehand watercoloring, but I can easily paint within the lines! I’ll show you how you can make some easy watercolor succulent art for yourself  that’ll…

Hello Sunshine Debossed Art

Hello Sunshine! 😉 Kelly here to share with you this piece I made with my Silhouette Curio. Embossing/debossing is one of those tasks well suited to the Curio with its special platforms and foam mat. I chose to give mine a little more pizzazz with gold vinyl inside the debossed lettering. FYI, if you’re unfamiliar with the terms, embossing leaves a raised surface and debossing presses into the surface for an indentation. The Curio goes through the same motions for each, but the end result depends on whether you will be looking at the front or the back of…
