Faux Stained Glass

Sometimes I see a design and instantly know what I want to create. Faux stained glass may have been an obvious choice with these designs, but I needed to come up with a simple way to create the look using supplies I had on hand. After figuring out which products to use, my little crafter was as eager as I was to get started. The trick to making these faux stained glass designs is using frosted vinyl as a base. I cut only the outline of the design from the frosted vinyl. Then my son filled in each design with a…

Tutorial | Sheriff Badge Stickers

Printable gold foil continues to be a favorite of mine. Its ability to be both beautiful and sturdy makes it an excellent choice for today’s kid’s craft. We will be using Silhouette’s amazing Print & Cut feature to make these sheriff badge stickers so be sure to have your printer nearby.     Once you’ve opened up both designs in Silhouette Studio®, ungroup them and delete the designs that won’t be used. Leave the star as it is, but fill in the other designs with black.         Resize the star until it is the size you need….

Paper Deer Art

One of my hobbies, besides crafting, is photography. A super cool technique that I really find fascinating is known as ‘double exposure’. It’s where you combine two images into one, keeping some elements of both photos and fading out others to create a cool and often ethereal composition. This ‘double exposure’ technique is what inspired this project – combining two elements I love into one cool art piece – deer and florals!   Supplies you’ll need to create this project: White Silhouette vinyl Silhouette printable gold foil Silhouette Adhesive cardstock Studio files (linked at the bottom of the…

Geometric Adventure Pallet Art

My husband and I just love to travel. Between us we’ve been to 15+ countries and plan to travel as much as time off from work and funds allow! I’m always looking for cute travel decor to add to our home as it means so much to us.  There is also an affinity in me for geometric shapes and anything gold, so I decided to combine all three and make this awesome geometric adventure pallet art. This is a multi-step project, but it’s really pretty easy. I found this AWESOME geometric shape circle in the design store and…

Layered Floral Love Card

One of my favorite card-making techniques is to layer delicate elements in a collage style. Silhouette cut files are perfect for this because you can pick designs that you love and mix them together to create something beautiful!   I chose a floral background pattern as my base and cut it out using my Silhouette CAMEO and water color paper. After the file was cut out, I simply took my watercolors and gently brushed some pink, blue and yellow over the top of it.       I wanted to create a card that would be great for a wedding,…

Jeweled Gold Foil Crown

The printable gold foil is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. It is incredibly shiny and beautiful! It also cuts like a dream, leaving me with crisp lines every single time. Pair it with chipboard for added strength and plastic gemstones for extra sparkle to create this regal crown.   Once you’ve opened the crown design in Silhouette studio, right click on it to release the compound path. Delete the star and diamond shapes from the crown. Reselect the whole crown design and right click to make it a compound path again. Cut the crown pieces from chipboard and printable gold…

Silver Foil Tag Embellishments

I’ve been wanting to cut this adorable 3D mason jar design out since it was added to the store this past summer, but just never had a chance.  When I was looking for a way to make someone a unique Valentine’s Day gift this week, though, it seemed the perfect choice.  Add a little custom tag and some cute labels to your candy kisses and you’ve got an memorable gift for an extra special someone.     The jar body is constructed of white adhesive cardstock and acetate and full instructions for assembly can be found on the designer’s website here.  Normally, I…
