Gina Marshall: Silhouette Spotlight

This Silhouette Spotlight is all about designer Gina Marshall. Gina is from Austin, Texas. She grew up drawing, painting, studying art, and enjoying many artistic outlets, but she didn’t really envision herself as an artist in the beginning. “Although I loved art and design, I didn’t know anyone who made a living as an artist, so it seemed unrealistic. It wasn’t until I had spent some years working in the corporate world that I was offered an opportunity I couldn’t resist. I left my ‘real’ job and became an artisan for a floral crafting business. After that, there was no turning…

I am now a full-time artist and illustrator.” Nic loves to draw. Many of her designs are derived from her drawings. “I’m an optimistic and usually happy person, so my designs tend to…

Angie Makes: Silhouette Spotlight

For this Silhouette Spotlight, we would like to take a closer look at Angie Makes, who has 363 designs featured in the Design Store. Angie joined Silhouette’s team of artists in January 2017. “I started graphic designing when I worked at a desk job at a nonprofit organization. No one else knew how to use Photoshop, so I designed all the brochures, posters, print material, web graphics, etc. It was a really good way to get my feet wet. I’ll be honest; my first designs were cringe worthy. But you learn by doing. Eventually I quit my job at the…

Fabric Gift Boxes

Printable Cotton Canvas is going to become your new favorite Silhouette material to play with. What’s so awesome about it is that you can print full patterns on it to give a textured element to a project. I used the gift-box shape and shrunk it down, cut it out in cardstock, then cut it in the canvas and stuck the two materials together to make these cute boxes that can be used as gift boxes or storage for your little bits of craft supplies. Before we start the project, a couple of notes: Pay close attention to how you feed the canvas sheet into your printer….
