Animal Movement Activity Dice

This winter weather has been keeping us inside more often than I’d like. My little one is bursting with energy so I have to find ways to focus it. I created this animal movement game as a way to keep him busy and active.

Since I needed the dice to be durable enough to withstand some rough rolling from my son I used a wooden block as its base. I printed each side of the dice on white adhesive cardstock using Silhouette’s print and cut feature. After adhering each side a little Mod Podge brushed on top provided a durable seal.

The game is super simple since all you do is roll the dice and do the animal movement. Each animal movement has a recognizable picture so my son can even play the game by himself.

This game has been a lifesaver during these boring winter days. Not only has it has kept him entertained and active, but throwing a little learning in with the fun is always a nice bonus!

Hi there, I’m Analisa! I love to travel and explore new places along with my husband and son. When we’re not on the go I’m happily crafting. I’ve been a crafter for as long as I can remember. When I was younger I collected every craft kit I could get my hands on. Not much has changed. I love my Silhouette because it such a versatile instrument for creating. I can stencil fabric with one project, then create stickers for my son with the next. I love experimenting with all it can do.

  1. What a great idea Analisa…it looks like he’s enjoying it too!

    1. Thanks Annie! He is so silly. He will randomly pick it up throughout the day, do one movement, and then go about the rest of his business. And of course no helping from me. Three year olds…haha!

  2. I love this idea. Thanks for sharing. When I got to your blog I realized I’d been saving your ideas from Silhouette for awhile, so I’ve signed up for your newsletter.

    1. Thank you Gail. That is so sweet of you!

  3. I love this idea!!! My Grand Daughter is about the same age and she would love this. What size block of wood did you use? It looks just right for little hands.

    1. Thanks Kathy! I used a 1 1/2″ wooden cube. Mine came in a pack of six so I’ve gotten a few projects out of it. They really have worked out to be the perfect size.

  4. What a clever clever girl

    1. Awww…thanks Nance 🙂

  5. I love this idea! I could totally do this for my son (he’s coming up on 3), and I could also use it when leading the singing for my church’s children’s group. Thanks for the cute idea!
