3d Summer Centerpiece

3d Summer Centerpiece

The summer weather is here and it’s time to be outside enjoying the gorgeous weather.  Before my folks moved from their house of 20+ years I would enjoy sitting in their backyard on the old wooden Adirondack chairs that they had. It was so peaceful and comfy sitting there under the big trees, listening to the bird’s chirp and my kids play while they visited Grandma & Grandpa.

When I came across this cut file in the Silhouette Design store it brought back memories and I just had to make some!

These little chairs are approx. 4 1/2″ high and would be perfect for a summer party table decor or you could even use them as place card holders.

I wanted them to be fairly sturdy so I could them from some Silhouette Chipboard sheets (1 sheet per chair). I love the vintage, weathered look so that was my goal.   I kept the sheet on the cutting mat and I took some teal colored ink and lightly sponged it over the chipboard. I then sponged a bit of white ink to give that white-washed look. I thought it turned out pretty good.

They were so easy to put together.  Plus there’s a great tutorial to follow which you can find HERE.

The 3D umbrella was created  to go along with these fabulous chairs so I just had to make one of those as well.

When I had put everything together I felt like it needed a little something extra.  And that little something was PILLOWS!!  It’s all about comfort right? Haha.

SO I used a pillow box design (you can find many of these in the Silhouette Design store) and I just simply resized it to create a small version that would fit nicely on the chairs.  (the pillows are approx. 2″ wide by 1 1/2″ high).  I then chose a script font and typed out the words “relax” and “enjoy”, welded them together and cut it all out from some Adhesive Backed Cardstock.

Happy Summer and enjoy those peaceful moments outside!

Cari Locken

HI there! I’m Cari Locken from Langley, BC, Canada. I’m a wife and mother of 3 amazing kids! I have been crafting since I was a child and love the creative outlet that this hobby brings to me. My formal training is in the area of music as I have a Masters degree in Music and I am currently teaching Band (to Grades 5, 6 & &) as well as private piano lessons. However I always find time to dig out my scrappy supplies and work on a few projects here & there. I love creating scrapbook layouts, preserving the everyday moments and special memories of our family life as well as creating cards & home decor items . Other than scrapbooking I enjoy spending time watching my children play sports, reading, knitting, photography and cooking. I’m thrilled to be a part of the Silhouette Team!
