The Best Of July 4th Projects

The stars were spangling bright this past Fourth of July, and I hope everyone had a fun-filled, long weekend. My Instagram feed was overflowing with patriotic photos showing everyone’s love of red, white, and blue. Don’t worry if you didn’t get a chance to appropriately adorn your house or festively decorate for your party. I have collected all of the spectacular crafts that will leave you seeing stars and stripes for years to come.

3D Patriotic Sign

The patriotism is strong with this project! Former Design Team member, Marie Chorak, has beautifully combined a 3D paper star with stenciled and painted lettering to create a stunning piece of art for the home. This piece truly shows that it is possible to design DIY projects, especially holiday-themed ones, that look store bought and eye catching. This 3D star design is so versatile that with just a change of patterned or colored paper, you can create so many different looks. Find out how easy this project was to make by heading over here!

Heat Transfer Anchor Favor Bags

Show of hands, who hosted a party for the Fourth of July? Did you remember to make party favors? These nautical-themed favor bags that Aimee Broussard, former Design Team member, created are the perfect complement to your red, white, and blue party. She originally made them for her sister’s baby shower but immediately made more for her own Fourth of July get-together. Can you blame her? Just like Aimee said, the great thing about the Silhouette CAMEO® is that you can personalize and design something unique for all of life’s special occasions. Learn how to create these favor bags here on the Silhouette blog.

Paper Patriotic Décor

I saw a lot of flourishing flower centerpieces during the holiday weekend, and while as pretty as they were, I still prefer faux flora over the real thing. #nogreenthumb So, when I came across my fellow Design Team member’s paper patriotic décor project, I was all sorts of excited! Kelly Wayment put together a stunning centerpiece that included not only paper rosettes but also a paper flower pot. It’s projects like this one that continue to leave me amazed at what you can create in the Silhouette Studio®. Stop by her website here to find out how to recreate this centerpiece.

Appliquéd Patriotic Tee

While paper crafts are all the rage, most people may not be aware that they can actually cut fabric with their Silhouette CAMEO®, Silhouette Curio™, and Silhouette Portrait®. Take a look at this patriotic T-shirt appliqué. Former Design Team member Analisa shows us how simple it is to use the fusible fabric stabilizer to help cut your fabric of choice; hers being a patriotic bandana. This symbol of national pride is the perfect Fourth of July attire for any of your celebration plans. Head over to the Silhouette blog here to find out how she made this patriotic tee appliqué.

Etched Metal Art

Oh boy! I’m all heart eyes over this framed patriotic work of art. If you’re unaware of the different materials that your Silhouette Curio™ can work with, this is a great example of the etching function. Kelly Wayment has designed a star-spangled tribute piece that includes a flag-filled US map design and the words “Land that I Love.” The metal etching makes this design a one-of-a-kind piece that will leave others amazed that you made it yourself. So, show your patriotic spirit by learning how to create your own by following Kelly’s thorough step-by-step tutorial here.

Glittered Stars and Stripes Vases

If you’re anything like me, your life is a little bit hectic and you find yourself running around at the last minute to create something spectacular. Sometimes, those projects don’t turn out so well, but I promise you that this one is foolproof. A quick trip to the dollar store for candle holders and mason jars, along with glitter and double-sided adhesive paper, will provide you with the tools to create simple, yet beautiful, July 4th décor. Head on over to my blog where I walk you through the few steps to create these glittery stars-and-stripes glassware.

I hope this has given you the inspiration to add to your July 4th decorations next year.
