New Year’s Eve Masquerade Mask

The new year is rapidly approaching. Are you ringing it in with a rockin’ party at your house this year? You should totally make it a masquerade party because I have a great craft for you today.

This is probably one of the most fun paper crafts I have ever done. It’s also one of the easiest. Simple and fun always make a great combo. These masquerade masks are very customizable, so gather up some shiny embellishments and let’s make one together!

Supplies Needed:

  • Heavy Cardstock (black, gold and silver are usually associated with New Year’s Eve, but any combination of shiny or glittery colors will work)
  • Paper Glue or Spray Adhesive
  • Embellishments like sequins, feathers, glitter, or gems
  • Design ID #65429
  • Design ID #72253

STEP ONE: CHOOSE AND IMPORT DESIGN screen-shot-2016-11-27-at-4-22-58-pm

This particular mask was the perfect size when I opened it in Silhouette Studio®, so it didn’t require resizing. The design has 2 layers so after selecting all of it. I ungrouped them so I could cut out 2 different colors—black for the background and gold for the top layer.

Cut each layer out separately on your CAMEO or your Portrait and glue them together.

I used a spray adhesive. It was the fastest and most efficient way to do it with all of the small cuts.

This step is totally optional, since it already looks great with the color combo. If you choose to add some bling, now is the time. So, go crazy with the sparkly stuff!

Once you’re finished, you can add some elastic to wear it hands free, or hot glue it to a skinny dowel. (Or a wooden skewer colored with a black permanent marker works great too!)

That’s all there is to it! Not too difficult, was it?

What’s your New Year’s Eve party theme this year?

Janet Henderson

Hello fellow crafters! I am really excited to be a part of the Design Team this year! I love all things home decor, photography and doing fun things with my husband and our 6 children, ages 4-19. I grew up on the Space Coast of Florida and we still live about 10 minutes from the beach. We recently moved to a new (to us) home and have begun updating it, including removing the MILES of wallpaper straight out of the 90’s. When it comes to projects big or small, I have no fear. Thankfully, I have had more successes than failures!
