Creating layered embellishments with my Silhouette CAMEO® is one of my favorite things to do while card making. I can make a truly unique layered die cut shape in just a few steps!
I created this vintage-inspired love card using a beautiful rose cut file from the Silhouette Online Store. Let me show you step-by-step how this card came together!
First, I separated the rose shape by ungrouping it (hit “Object > Ungroup” when the file is selected), so that the outer edge and the inner pieces could be cut out of two different colors of paper. I did the same thing with the leaves and then duplicated each shape and shrank them down.
I spaced out my patterned papers on my cutting mat, so that I could cut all of my pieces out in one session.
Once the CAMEO was done cutting, I had two gorgeously layered roses and two sets of leaves!
I chose a cute polka dot patterned paper for my card base to enhance the vintage feel of the roses. Together they reminded me of a pattern on a bedspread or throw pillow. I love that look.
To create a spot for my sentiment, I used a label cut file from the Silhouette Online Store. This label came with a border around it, but I ungrouped the shape and then deleted the outer layer. Then I cut it out of a yellow/green patterned paper and stamped the word “love” on it in navy ink.
I adhere the stamped label behind my roses and leaves and trimmed off the right side a bit. Then I just adhered my roses and leaves together and the card is complete!
I hope you enjoyed today’s tutorial! Definitely give layering your die cuts a try!
