So a couple of weeks ago I had my yearly eye exam. You know, just to make sure everything was right as rain (which it was!) And while I was there I got to thinking – how cool would it be to make up an eye chart piece of art, but instead of just random letters to actually have it be an actual sentence! And thus this project was born.
I decided to pick the phrase ‘And they lived happily ever after’ because I love fairy tale books plus I really do get to live my happily ever after every single day with my husband! So I picked a nice bold font from the Silhouette Design Store, and then played around with the size, spacing and breakup of the letters till I got the look I was going for. There was still a bit of space at the end of the last row so I added a heart! Now this was originally two interlinked hearts, but I erased one using the ‘eraser’ tool and then closed up the gaps with the pencil tool and grouped my new lines with the rest of the heart so they would move as one piece!
After that it was easy peasy – just had it cut out onto black matte vinyl and I was ready to go! I hate wasting valuable vinyl, so I took the parts I would have weeded and stuck them to a wall in my closet as a sort of decorative decal!
So for the main eye chart quote art, I just placed some transfer tape over the letters, and transferred them to a white piece of paper that fit my frame using my scraper!
Then I just popped it in the frame et voila! A beautiful and fun modern piece of art. Isn’t it neat?
I ended up putting it in our bedroom and I really love it on top of my DIY crate table! Such a fun and modern little vignette for our master. And always good for checking my vision too 😉
