Hey there friends! I hope you’re all having a fantastic summer! I LOVE this geometric buffalo. Buffaloes always remind me of a musical I was in in high school called ‘Footloose!’ (I’m sure you’ve all seen the lovely Kevin Bacon movie version of this) The high school in the musical was Bomont High and their mascot was a buffalo. This free design reminds me being footloose and fancy free and having a fun time! That, and anything geometric is instantly one of my favorites!
I wanted to make some cool canvas art with this design so I pulled up the buffalo in my Silhouette Software and sized it to fit my canvas. Then I set my cut settings to ‘vinyl’, changed my blade depth to ‘2’ and sent it to my CAMEO to be cut out of the gorgeous gold vinyl!
I just love the fun lines in this design! It provides a clean modern edge to a natural and earthy shape. Next, I weeded my design using the hook tool. It’s so fun to peel out the the shapes and slowly reveal my design. (I actually find weeding to be quite relaxing!)
Once I transferred my buffalo to my canvas (which I pre-painted with white paint so the vinyl would stick better!) I knew it needed something more. After going through a few ideas, I finally decided that it needed some glitter. Who doesn’t love glitter??! Using some mod podge, and a paint brush, I applied the glitter to random triangles within my buffalo. Simply paint the mod podge in the space you want it, sprinkle glitter, then shake off the excess!
It can be a little messy, (afterall glitter gets EVERYWHERE) but it’s totally worth it! I love my sparkly, glittery gold buffalo canvas art. I think it’s a fun little piece of quirky decor that fits in well with my eclectic style.
If you love gold, glitter, animals, or the musical ‘Footloose’, you should definitely think about using this design of the week to add a little buffalo lovin’ to your home decor!
