Being a homeowner the past couple years has had it’s challenges but for the most part it has been the most amazing experience. It’s so relaxing and encouraging to be able to come home after a long day to a space that’s all our own where we can relax and do whatever tickles our fancy. I know home sweet home is a bit of a cliche saying, but it really is true for us. Our house has been one of the biggest blessings to us in the past couple years and we love sharing our space with others. It really is home sweet home to us!
To create this canvas, I started off by giving it some stripes with gray acrylic paint. Pro Silhouette User Tip: If you plan on adhering vinyl to canvas, paint it first! Even if it’s still going to be white, paint it with acrylic paint first – the adhesive on the vinyl will stick so much better!
I designed my ‘home sweet home’ text in the Silhouette Studio software and sized it to fit my canvas.
I decided on using black vinyl for the ‘homes’ and gold printable foil for the ‘sweet.’ You see how on the word ‘sweet’ there are little overlapping parts? I don’t want my CAMEO to cut into other letters, so to easily fix that, I just selected ‘cut edge’ in the cut menu instead of just ‘cut.’ Now the CAMEO will only cut around the outside the letters and not the overlapping parts! [Or, you can right click and select weld to create one solid word.]
Using transfer paper, I transferred all the words over to my canvas, starting with the ‘homes’ and then placing the ‘sweet’ over the top. I like how it overlaps on the home letters! I’m so happy with how it turned out. 🙂
And while I really appreciate our house, what really makes it home sweet home is who I share it with 🙂 This is just a great reminder to always be thankful for what I have!
