All of the gifts I gave while growing up were handmade. Thinking back to years of handmade Mother’s Day gifts I remembered lots of bookmarks. They were the perfect gift for an avid reader like my mom. If you’re searching for a giftable Mother’s Day kids craft you’ll love this canvas bookmark. It is easy to prep and can be created by children of varying ages and abilities.
To make these canvas bookmarks you’ll need:
- Silhouette’s printable cotton canvas
- Fabric markers or crayons
- Your printer
To get started, open both the bookmark and the mom design and resize them to your liking in Silhouette studio. After arranging the mom design on the bookmark shape you’ll need to make a couple of quick adjustments before sending it to your printer. Select the design that needs to be printed (not the bookmark shape), change the line color to black, and then the line thickness to 1.0 pt. If you saw my kids printable coloring book it’s the same method I shared with you there to make the lines visible and easy to color in.
You’ll use Silhouette’s Print & Cut feature to print on the cotton canvas sheet then cut it using your Silhouette CAMEO or Portrait. Cut a second outline of the bookmark shape for the back of your bookmark.
Sandwich the two bookmark pieces together. The adhesive makes it so easy! Color it in and finish the bookmark off with a bit of ribbon.
Mom will adore this pretty and practical gift!
