The print and cut feature of the Silhoeutte happens to be one of my favorites, and this week’s free design lends itself really well to it! If you haven’t tried creating a printable in your Silhouette studio software, let’s give it a go today! It is a quick and simple way to create your own invitations, party decor or even just a little something to print and frame.
To turn just about any design into a printable:
- Start by ungrouping the design and deleting the bits you don’t need. (love that the software allows me to customize so easily!)
- Next, open the Fill Color window, select each part of the design and then click on the desired color.
- Once the design is filled with color, you are just about ready to print. I combined the design here with a couple of fonts from my computer to create the shower invitation.
If you want your Silhouette to cut out the design, don’t forget to turn on the registration marks. Or, if you are creating just a printable, you can get more than one on a page and trim with a paper trimmer once it is printed. Easy peasy!
One of the best parts about a design from the Silhouette design store is that it can be filled with color and printed like we’ve shown above, or the same design can be used as a regular cut file too. You’ll notice in the background of the photos the same raindrops that are on the printed designs were resized, cut out, stitched together and used as a backdrop. So many options for each design!
