Print & Cut Mug Hug

Print & Cut Mug Hug

I have an interest in many different types of crafts and knitting is just one of them.  I learned to knit when I was a young girl and I still enjoy it very much because it’s a way for me to relax and wind down.

Today I’m sharing this little coffee mug cozy that I made.  It’s a great little gift idea and perfect for Teacher gifts. Yep! My kids teachers will be getting one! 😉

I found this great design in the Silhouette design store.  It is a print & cut design.

I wanted to add some words to the design on the upper & lower portion but realized that there were a lot of ‘sketch’-like marks in the design. So I simply right clicked & ungrouped the design and then removed the lines that I didn’t want. (you can see the difference in the picture below. The design on the left is the original.)

I then created a text box and inserted the words “mug hug” onto the upper portion of the design. I also added a design (‘handmade with love’) at the bottom of the design.

After creating the registration marks I printed out the designs. I then went into the Offset window and created an outline image fairly close to the edge of the design. I made sure to click on the main design and chose NO CUT (because I only wanted to cut out the outline shape).  I then sent it through my Silhouette to cut out.

  6. so you are the cool person who did the mug hug! I have several I would like to make, but could you give me the knitting instructions for the “hug” cozy? I’ve enjoyed your work on creative team this year and glad you are returning! thanks
