Ladybug Valentine

What a fun Free Design of the Week! This Valentine design reminded me of a pair of wings so I went ahead and added a black circle to the top of the heart to transform it into a ladybug. I like the way that the wings open and close to reveal a special Valentine message.

Kids will have so much fun stamping the spots onto the ladybug. Your child can be set free to stamp any pattern their little heart desires including upside down, sideways, one of top of the other, really anything goes! Depending on the age of the child, assembly of this Valentine may require adult guidance and assistance.

For an added educational component, I made four different sized hearts to encourage the idea of small, smaller, smallest and big, bigger, biggest.

The stamp block that comes with the stamp starter kit is a bit too large for little hands so instead, I used this small and flat plastic lid. The stamp material is fantastic. It can used again and again, so I found it handy to store the different hearts on the stamp block and then my children could interchange the different sized heart stamps as they pleased.

When stamping, encourage your child to press hard and straight down.

“I’m ‘buggy’ for you”, or “You’re as cute as a bug” are a couple of different and cute messages that could be written inside of this Valentine.
