Photo Magnets – Silhouette America Blog

Photo Magnets

I’ve been inspired by the ever popular square photo trend!

  • I opened up the photos first in photoshop and cropped them to a 2 x 2 square and saved the file like that.
  • Then I opened up Silhouette Studio, changed my page size to letter and turned the registration marks.
  • Next, I added all my 2 x 2 photos to the page and turned on the cut line in the cut settings window.
  • Then I printed them out.

  • Next I took the backing off of the adhesive magnet paper to expose the sticky side.

  • Then I put the printed sheet of photos on the sticky side of the magnet sheet.
  • Then I placed it on my cutting mat, loaded it into the CAMEO and clicked send to Silhouette in the cut settings menu.

It created all of these little square photo magnets…

Can you imagine these in all kinds of fun sizes all over your fridge?

My kids love using their magnets to hang everything on the fridge, like the cute drawing gifts they got from their very best neighbor friends.

I can’t wait to make more! I think for Christmas I am going to make my grandma some because she LOVES pictures all over her fridge and has to use magnets to put them on the fridge. This is so much better.

  1. Great idea Nicole! I might be including some photo magnets in my Christmas cards this year…

  2. how many 2×2 photo’s can you squeeze out of one sheet. it looks like you left big spaces between the photos. Can you squeeze them tighter to not waste the magnet paper?

  3. Help please! I am from Cape Town, South Africa. Could you please could you let me know where I can purchase the adhesive magnet paper.

I would appreciate it if you could send me a list of dealers/ stockist.

    Kind Regard
    Nellie

    1. Hi Nellie! You can find a list of retailers on our website here

  4. Thank you for sharing!

  5. Hi Nicole, I’ve also done a version of these where I’ve put a polaroid frame in white around the photos – so it looks like mini polaroids on your fridge! Just cut the polaroids out of adhesive backed cardstock (or normal cardstock which you then glue onto your photo) and stick it over the photo square! Easy!
To make it more durable, I also covered mine in clear contact paper

    1. Great idea! Now if I could just get a color printer I’d be all set…Staples, here I come. Lol

  6. These are totally on my list for Christmas gifts for the grandparents! Can’t wait!

  7. Help! I am trying to make these! I uploaded pictures on my “pages” from the mac and tried to open it in silhouette and it says the file type is not supported. How can I get it to open in there so I can print them?

I do not have photo shop but have Corel which is paint shop pro,

    Thanks
