My collection of animal shapes has been growing like crazy lately. Whenever I see one I like I just have to snatch it up! It’s partially because they’re so toddler friendly. One of my son’s most recent interests is learning all about animals. I created these animal blocks for him because I thought they’d be a fun way to encourage his curiosity.
I printed the squares on adhesive cardstock which made it a breeze to adhere to the blocks. Then I brushed some Mod Podge on the top to seal them. After letting them dry they were ready to be played with.
Here are a few different ways we’ve played with these blocks:
- match the correct head to the correct body and name the animal
- practice animal sounds
- spell out the animal’s name
- talk about different animal body parts
Of course my silly boy’s favorite thing to do is create silly animals.
How about my personal favorite, the cow/chicken…
Create, explore, and have fun doing it!
