Custom Printables

Have you ever used Silhouette studio to create your own printables? With so many shapes to choose from in the online store, along with fonts you have on your computer, you can create a printable for any occasion in just a few minutes.

Take this week’s free shape for example. I used it to create a printable that can be displayed on the dessert table at a fun 4th of July BBQ!

Here are a few steps for creating your own printables…

  • In Silhouette studio use the rectangle tool to draw a rectangle the size you want your printable to be. Mine needed to fit into a 5 x 7 frame so that is the size I chose and entered the exact dimensions in the scale window.

  • Next, open the shape/s you want to use, resize and arrange them within the rectangle to create your printable design
  • Use the fill color window to fill each shape, if you don’t see the color you want in the default swatches, open the advanced options and select your own color

  • Add the word or phrase to your printable using the text tool. With the text selected scroll through the fonts in the text style window until you find the one you like

  • Then, in the fill color window select a color to fill it with, or use the eye dropper tool to select a custom color from one of the other shapes

  • Now you are all set to print! The shape is a basic rectangle so you can use a paper trimmer to cut it out.
  • Or, if you are like me and would rather have the CAMEO cut it out, be sure to turn on the registration marks before printing.

  • Then, before cutting be sure to select ‘no cut’ in the cut settings menu for all of the shapes/text but the outside rectangle

Voila! You’ve just made your very own printable!

To change things up, you can print them on different materials too. My favorites are textured cardstock and cotton canvas!
