Vellum Overlay Valentine – Silhouette America Blog

Vellum Overlay Valentine

Hi everyone!  Amanda here with a pretty little valentine using Silhouette’s newly released vellum.  It’s good stuff, I tell ya.  It is thin, yet sturdy, and it cuts very nicely.

Adding vellum overlays to cards adds a touch of softness to the overall design.  White vellum looks particularly striking against darker patterns.  I paired the pink polka dots with contrasting blue and green enamel hearts to add some visual interest.

I  cut the sentiment using Silhouette double-sided adhesive and added silver glitter.  Double sided adhesive is perfect for making sparkly custom sentiments.

The CAMEO cut the vellum perfectly, leaving crisp edges and smooth corners.  I had no problem lifting the vellum off of my cutting mat.  TIP: Use adhesive formulated for vellum sparingly and strategically to avoid too many unsightly adhesive marks.

Have a happy day!

  1. I do love how the vellum adds softness to this card, and those enamel hears just finish it off so nice. I thought I was the only one that used regular, very visible adhesive with my vellum-lol.

  2. This is such a sweet valentine Amanda…love how you used the the vellum for an overlay.

  3. Great use of the new vellum, Amanda! Love your cute card!!

  4. -does anyone know if there are any options to adhere vellum that DON’T show through the vellum?
-when positioning something from double-sided adhesive, is there any give to align it well (to the piece where you are attaching it)? Thks!!

  5. Nice card. Don’t want Vellum adhesive marks?….just run it through your Xyron.

  6. I also am curious about adhering velumn and it not showing. I have heard to place bling or something over it but sometimes you just want a clean look with vellum overlay. Hope to see something i.e.: response soon as would love to know suggestions.
