Printable Vintage Flash Cards

I also want to share a simple project idea for the new printable cotton canvas. {I’m LOVIN’ this stuff!}

Vintage flash cards::

These little flash cards are a printable shape in the online store, and by adding a hole to the top of each card I was able to adhere them back to back and hang them on a ring. Super cute!
There are just a couple of steps in Silhouette studio to get the holes in the front/back to line up perfectly… {you can click on the photos to enlarge if you need a closer look}
First, open the shape and click the ungroup icon.
Then, delete all of the red cut lines except for one.

Next, use the elipse tool to draw a small circle and place it in the top left corner of the first shape.

This will be the front card…

Then duplicate the shape, right click and flip it horizontally.

Now you’ve got the back card. Duplicate those two shapes and place them over the remaining cards, and you are just about ready to print/cut.

Next, open the page window and select letter as your page size.

Then, open the registration marks window and mark the box next to show reg marks. Move the shapes to the center of the page, making sure that they are not overlapping the grey hash marks, and you are set to print.

Next, place your printed canvas on the mat as shown in Silhouette studio, open the Silhouette cut settings window, select printable cotton canvas from the menu, insert your fabric blade into your Silhouette and click cut.

Now, remove the backing from the canvas, adhere the shapes back to back and you’ve got a darling set of durable flash cards. 🙂

So many possibilities with the cotton canvas… more to come later this week!

Have a great Monday!

  8. Hey Jeana – Is there a printer that you recommend? One that works great for all the different types of media?

  10. Hi Jeana,

    I wonder what is the effect of the sketch pens in the new “printable cotton canvas.” Will is well written? The color is well applied in tissue?

    Thank you,
    Priscilla Kelly
