About 10 years ago when I was in school and living on a limited budget I had to be creative/thrifty when it came to giving gifts. One Mother’s Day gift in particular stands out in my mind. I had an old frame, and inside the frame I wrote on little rectangle pieces of paper the things I loved about my mom. It wasn’t pretty by any stretch of the imagination, but to this day that little frame hangs on the wall in the entry way to my mom’s home. I think there is something to be said about hand made gifts… even the ones only a mother could love. Today’s project is a simple one you can recreate at home… for a gift, or even your own home decor.
First step, find an old frame at a local thrift store and give it a quick once over with some spray paint. Then, using the fonts you already have on your computer, design the layout of your quote in Silhouette Studio. While the letters are being cut , place a piece of scrapbook paper or fabric in the frame. Then, adhere the quote using a glue pen or your favorite adhesive.
This project was made with my mom in mind, but how fun would it be with the name of a bride and groom at the guestbook table on their special day, or at a luncheon with the menu listed for your guests. So many possibilities…
