Inspiration { year in review }

Since I started working in the crafting industry several years ago, I have met some amazingly talented people!  Today's project was actually inspired by one of them and her most recent blog post. For her family's year in review, she made a collage of Instagram photos taken with her phone over the last year. She numbered them and then gave a brief description of each one. When I saw it, I knew I wanted to try creating a scrapbook page using the same basic concept. Here is my interpretation of her fun idea.

I used some of the darling sketch frames in the online store, and created some of my own using the designer edition of the Silhouette Studio.  Here is how I did it...

First, I opened the basic shapes I wanted to use and selected all of them. This made it easy to apply the changes to all of them at once.

Then, in the sketch window I selected "continuous". This gave the shapes a sketchy appearance like the more ornate frames I found in the store.

To complete the background on my page, I added in the other frames, and moved/re-sized them until they were where I wanted them to be sketched.

Then, I switched out my blade for the black sketch pen and let the CAMEO work it's magic. Nicely done dear CAMEO, nicely done!

  3. So I have to have the Designer Edition Software to sketch, right?

  4. Hi Megn,
    You can sketch with the free sil software, it's just that the designer software has "sketch options with it". In your free software, just choose sketch pen in your cut settings and replace the blade with your pen, marker, etc...
    You can play around with your cutline options also, before I got the designer studio, I used to sketch my perf lines to mimic stitch lines...
    Have fun!!!
    Just as a side note... To any curious "sil"ers, if you are able to upgrade to the designer software it is so worth it!!! Lot's of options to play around with...

  9. I am doing this one! I scrapbook in 8" x 8" size and now my SD will crop my photo paper for me. Cropping was never my favorite activity. I love it that I can combine my PhotoShop creations with Silhouette's files and make my digital scrapbooking go hybrid! Being able to fill shapes with my digi papers is such a great feature, and saves my expensive ink costs.

    It's so fun to see so many of my forum mates from Silhouette Plus forum here! Hi, guys!

  14. Absolutely love this. Do you have to buy a "pen" to the silhouette of doing this?
